If a patient moves for treatment from one NHS trust to another it is difficult for clinicians to see the reports or images from the previous trust, such as the patient’s x-rays, tests and results.

This can lead to repeat tests or procedures, even a delay in patient care due to the time it takes the clinician to receive these reports and images from other trusts.

To improve this problem we are putting in place a Cross Document Sharing (XDS) platform so that reports and images can be shared digitally across Trusts.

We will expand this to Cross Community Access (XCA) so trusts across the NHS can access the same data securely.

This will reduce costs, as well as time of patient transfers.

Clinical staff will have more time to care for patients, with a reduction in diagnosis time.
